Zappa Plays Zappa October 31, 2006 – Theatre at MSG – Lossless Download

Tonight Zappa Plays Zappa performs at the Beacon Theatre, in a continued celebration of the music of Frank–whose annual Halloween NYC shows were legend. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend this evening’s performance. However, last year I was lucky to see the show at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden. The band was led in the capable hands of Dweezil, and last year’s show featured members of Frank’s band, including the amazing Steve Vai, Terry Bozzio, and Napoleon Murphy Brock.

In anticipation of tonight, nyctaper presents a Halloween present to our loyal readers.

I recorded this concert from the center of the front section, directly in front of the soundboard, and utilized the Neumann rig. This recording has an excellent stereo presence and rich bass notes. Enjoy!

Oh wow, thanks for this! I am supporting the band by seeing them twice on the last tour and actually again this Friday, and hopefully they’ll have the DVD for sale at the show this Friday. I have not heard this Halloween show and can’t wait to hear one of your excellent recordings of it! What a treat!

PS, did you see them on Conan O’Brian last night? Also note that their appearance on the Rockline radio show, which included much live performance, is available streaming at http://www.rocklineradio.com/replay/replay.php

    Thanks again for posting this!

Thanks so much! These guys are coming to Japan in January – I think it’s like $100 bucks but I’m considering it… don’t get this kind of opportunity often.

Hi, downloaded your recording and listened to it while driving from Lille to Paris (in France). Thank you very much I enjoyed it a lot. The drive took about 2,5 hour so the fitted very well with the show. But what a pity you missed Village of the Sun. One of my favourite songs and I remember from the show they did a great job on it. I will search for another version.

Please let me know if you have an alt link. I was at the show – early date with my future wife. Really would love this for our archives!
