Fever Marlene drove fifteen hours from Milwaukee to New York yesterday. If the duo were fatigued, their performance last night at Pianos did not reflect it. As driving drummer Kevin Dunphy pounded enough to fill the room, vocalist/guitarist/foot-organ player Scott Starr led the band through an excellent compact fifty-minute set of songs from their two full length albums, along with two unreleased tracks. The empty performance room quickly filled as Fever Marlene began their set, and the crowd’s enthusiasm reached its peak when after a furious “Backseat Lover”, the band was cajoled into an encore.
The recording offered below was captured from our standard location at Pianos and is a fine representation of this superb live band. Enjoy!
