A new year, a new decade, and there is much to celebrate at nyctaper. This was a banner year for the site, with many incredible concert experiences, many recordings that make us proud, and some important recognitions — including the PC Magazine Top 50 award which was both humbling and incredibly rewarding. We expect to do much of the same at the site this year, and some new ventures — not the least of which is our plan to do live streaming broadcasts.
Thank you to our many readers and your valued encouragement and contributions. This site would not exist were it not for the many visitors we received each day. And of course the recordings would not exist if not for the very generous artists and venues who permit live recordings. Thanks!
Below is the updated schedule. We expect to attend and record these events. However, circumstances will prevent some of these from being done, and others will be added in the meantime.
If you want nyctaper to record your band, a band you represent, a show you’re promoting, or even your favorite band in the world, get me on the list and make sure everyone who needs to approve of the recording gives permission. Also, remember I’m doing this all for free — the recordings, the post-production, the reviews, the links, etc. — so treat me fairly.

i cant really help you get in..but being that its the first few shows of for them in the states this year maybe a quick email to them might get you on the list.
my comment is 2 fold. 1) i am coming to NYC just for these shows (and would love to say hi to NYCtaper(s) and thank you in person for being awesome) and 2) i think from what I have seen you cover you might like this band (Norwegian: so they dont come here often..and shoegaze!!!)

Do they permit live recording?
You are awesome! I very much look forward to at least 75% of these recordings and am also extremely jealous! We don’t get that many concerts here in Idaho in a decade!
No Oneida on 1/29? Not complaining, but your other Oneida recordings are great.
Hey Dan – Steve Wynn is celebrating his 50th birthday Friday Feb 19th at Lakeside Lounge. I’m gonna fly out from L.A. for it, would be great to meet you.
glad to see the joy formidable on your schedule for tonight. saw ’em last night at union hall and they blew the roof off the place — from the basement! hope to have that recording up on dime this week.
Really looking forward to hearing both woj’s and NYCtaper’s Joy Formidable shows. Great that they seem to be going down well in the US and hopefully a few of us will be able to tape them again on the UK tour in couple of months.
I’m editing last night’s show and it sounds amazing. It should be up tonight.
Great to see the might Joy Formidable going down so well on your side of the pond, these guys are gonna be breaking over here during 2010 and with a little luck they’ll do the same in the U.S of A, looking forward to hearing some of the recordings, between myself, Pontiac and a few others we’re making sure that their live performances are well documented.
Bring it on…….Shout “The Joy”

She & Him
March 29th, 2010 – New York, NY @ Bowery Ballroom
Tickets on sale 1/29.
March 30th, 2010 – New York, NY @ Bowery Ballroom
Tickets on sale 1/29.
It would make my year if you could record either of these. She and Him tour so irregularly that a recording would be amazing. Also, these concerts are a week after the new album comes out, so they should be pretty good.
Right now, that is not going to be possible. M Ward is strictly against taping. If you or someone can convince him to let nyctaper record audio of the show, then I’d do it.
