When we saw She Keeps Bees in May at Mercury Lounge, we knew immediately that we had to have the band at our CMJ show. The most compelling aspects of the band were on display that May night — Jess’s raw guitar and impassioned vocals and Andy’s ferocious drumming. Fortunately, Jess and Andy accepted our invitation several months ago. At Rock Shop two weeks back, although their opening set for Sharon Van Etten’s CD release show was short, the energetic and authentic set confirmed what we believed in May — She Keeps Bees is the real deal.
At our CMJ show tomorrow, She Keeps Bees is scheduled to perform at 4:30 pm. Come and check them out!
I recorded this set as I have all Rock Shop shows — a soundboard feed mixed with microphones on a stand in front of the booth. This time I used the Neumann’s. The sound quality is outstanding. Enjoy!
