After recording nearly every night in the first half of December, we’ve been working behind the scenes over the last couple of weeks to post a backlog of recordings and taking a little rest from shows. However, when the calendar turns to 2011, we will be back out in earnest capturing many excellent shows for the site. Our goals for the new year remain steady — increasing the volume of recordings, expanding the site, and live streaming of shows. I’m confident that this is the year we will begin live steams in earnest.

[Below is the updated schedule. We expect to attend and record these events. However, circumstances will prevent some of these from being done, and others will be added in the meantime.]

If you want nyctaper to record your band, a band you represent, a show you’re promoting, or even your favorite band in the world, get me on the list and make sure everyone who needs to approve of the recording gives permission. Also, remember I’m doing this all for free — the recordings, the post-production, the reviews, the links, etc. — so treat me fairly.

Nice schedule. If Fang Island should play NYC, a recording would be awesome. Haven’t found any decent tapings of this great band yet.

    Great list!

Did you tape Dean Wareham last month?

I recorded Fang Island twice this year. Both times their management nixed the recording for posting. So, I’m afraid I’m done trying with them. Great live band, though!

How about Tyvek? 1/15 at Glasslands, 1/16 at Mercury Lounge

  6. December 27, 2010 at 3:28 pm

Definitely would like to do Tyvek but only the 16th is possible.

@acidjack: Thanks, didn’t know that. If I really really – cross my heart – really promise that I won’t circulate the recording, can’t you send me a copy? :)

The New Years show with Real Estate, Titus Andronicus, Julian Lynch, and Andrew Cedermark would be dope! Wish I could go.

Heh, I would be all over that show if it was any other day of the year than 12/31. I’ve already sent my regrets to Todd. Its going to be a wild night, too wild for me.

Still bummed over the Jayhawks denial. Any thoughts as to why they (or their mang) denied recording?

  12. January 23, 2011 at 1:27 pm

My info is that they didn’t want the new songs recorded and circulated. The possibility exists for taping them in the future.

Any chance you can record The Giraffes final show @ the Mercury Lounge Feb 5th? Thanks

  14. January 24, 2011 at 2:28 pm

Very likely that we will have a recording of that show, yes.

Thanks! I’m a big mid-west fan who can’t make the show.

I believe it was attempted, but ultimately did not work out, unfortunately, due to a mechanical issue.
