NYCTaper Upcoming Schedule: Summer Days

June 7, 2011
By

taper-larger

We’ve had a little downtime during the last two weeks, but things will pick up beginning on Monday and continue unabated throughout the Summer.

[Below is the updated schedule. We expect to attend and record these events. However, circumstances will prevent some of these from being done, and others will be added in the meantime.]

If you want nyctaper to record your band, a band you represent, a show you’re promoting, or even your favorite band in the world, get us in the door and make sure everyone who needs to approve of the recording gives permission. Also, remember each person on the nyctaper crew does this all for free — the recordings, the post-production, the reviews, the links, etc. — so treat us fairly.

Looking like a truly great season. Can’t wait! Any chance of DFA1979, or Sonic Youth (both at Williamsburg Waterfront) ?

Since you’re recording Sic Alps on 6/24, any chance you could also record Spectre Folk?

Sorry, another request: since you’re recording Disappears on 6/26, could you also get The Psychic Paramount?

    (Sorry, I meant 7/26)

I just received a qualified (they want to review the recording) clearance from Psychic Paramount, so yes.

Your work is incredible. Had you not planned to go to one of the TWO Deerhunter shows in NY in August?

Tell me you recorded WATERS with Deervana !?

Did you manage to tape the Dinosaur Bug show? That was the best I’ve seen them since probably ’06! They seem really revitalized — I’m sure finally taking a break last year from the insane amount of touring they were doing has something to do with that.

Taping was not allowed at that particular show. Sorry.

Regarding the Dinosaur Jr. ‘Bug’ show, I heard back from their management: the reason they did not allow taping that night was that they were filming and recording it themselves for a possible official live album release of this tour. Really hoping this happens!

May I suggest The Cute Lepers @ The Knitting Factory on 9/1/2011?

I see you’ll be at 4knots this weekend. Will you be taping titus andronicus too?

  21. July 14, 2011 at 2:12 am

Regarding recording the 4Knots Festival, we never even received the courtesy of a reply from the Village Voice or the 4Knots Festival from multiple inquiries, so we won’t be taping that.
We are however going to capture the Black Angels at Maxwell’s the night before, and acidjack will be recording Urge Overkill (who responded positively to our request) on the 16th instead of 4Knots.

My vote is for Wilco at Central Park on 9/22

  23. July 15, 2011 at 9:48 pm

I plan on doing both Wilco Summerstage shows, if I can get tickets from craigslist or whatever non-scalper source I can find. Ticketmaster on sale today was a complete fraud.

A lotta good music on this list:

After looking around I was bummed to see that Animal Collective on July 12 at Prospect Park was crossed off the list…

But, does anyone know if there was a recording made of Bright Eyes & Dr. Dog at The Williamsburg Waterfront on August 31?

I would love it if someone could shoot me a pointer if they know of these recordings!

    Thanks!
