Pavement: October 1, 2022 Kings Theatre

October 13, 2022

If night one was the hits set, then night two dealt some deeper cuts from Wowee Zowee. We got “Black Out,” “Grave Architecture,” “Pueblo,” “We Dance,” and for only the second time on the tour a blistering “Half a Canyon.” Wow! If I could point to one song I was chasing on this tour it would be “Half a Canyon.” And if they didn’t play it at Kings Theatre, I would be forced to follow them until they did. We also got their Jim Pepper cover, “Witchi Tai To,” the tour’s only new addition to the Pavement repertoire, to close out the evening. Maybe it was where my seats were located, or simply a Saturday night crowd, but the unbridled enthusiasm out in the seats I think perked up the band a bit compared to the previous night. Pavement forever!

The witchi tai to from this show is a small miracle. They go into a beautiful ‘quiet storm’ coda after the song peaks and send everyone home tingling

Thank you so much!!! I’m listening to this for the 2nd time right now. Sounds great. I’m happy to be reliving the vibe of the show.
