There’s not a ton more I can add about Yo La Tengo that hasn’t been said about them on this site already and recently, at that. Suffice it to say, they are a classic band who have only continued to grow and evolve with time, and any opportunity to see YLT is one worth taking. The band has been on an intense tour schedule for most of this year behind their latest, Fade, but they still sound as fresh as they did debuting the new material back in December at Maxwell’s. This one-hour set at the Solid Sound Festival is an abridged version of a full YLT show, but YLT still packed in a variety of great material, including the excellent combination of “Ohm” and “Blue Line Swinger” to close out the night. They will be hitting a number of other festivals and various shows in North America, the UK and Japan this summer, and we‘d recommend you not miss them if they’re in your city.
Site contributor Kubacheck recorded this set with MBHO cardiod microphones from near the soundboard. While the large room and the distance from the band were not ideal, the sound quality of the recording is nonetheless quite good. Enjoy!

I was really looking forward to hearing Sunsquashed live.
Next time we’ll make sure to guarantee your complete satisfaction, because we clearly aren’t doing enough to meet your particular needs.
I had never intended to direct any disappointment nor dissatisfaction to the recorders nor Yo La Tengo. Thank you to all parties for the recording. It sounds excellent.
thanks!
Thanks guys! Going to see them in December in Belgium, even though I don’t really know them. But you’ve been raving so much about them, that I’m positive it will be a great show.

Ira’s guitar has a grammar all of its own…
Nyctaper, you were being awfully snappy at Jonathan. He was just providing a helpful correction!
I know that you live in the hustle and bustle of nyc, but you should really relax a bit.
