Morrissey October 22, 2007 – Hammerstein – Lossless Download

Morrissey began his 5-night stand at Hammerstein Ballroom on Monday night with an energetic and powerful performance. Clearly understanding the disappointment at his cancellation of the June concert, Morrissey said “our little donkey finally made it to New York City, thanks for your patience, thanks for waiting” after the third number. He proceeded to deliver a set tight with recent numbers and weighed heavy on the back end with Smiths favorites, including the rare “Death of a Disco Dancer” from Strangeways.

I recorded from the lower Mezzanine. I arrived fairly late, so that my position was farther back than hoped, although with a clear view at the left PA stack. The sound quality in the venue was quite outstanding, so that ultimately this recording is excellent.

This recording is no longer available at nyctaper. If you search the web, you’ll likely find a copy.

Thanks for the great recording. I was bummed that Moz didn’t play “Throwing My Arms Around Paris” last night. I still haven’t heard a decent recoding of that song and you certainly would have had the best one.

Are you going to other shows this week? If you do, try to get a tape of that new song.

    Thanks

    G

Sorry, I’m going to the Shins on Thursday, and then going away for the weekend.
I actually have an extra ticket to Saturday that I need to move. Anyone have a nice idea for a nyctaper contest for a free ticket?

Fantastic! We really needed a decent recording of the current tour! Too bad about “I’m throwing my arms…” like Gary said though. Thank you!

You can play flacs on your computer with a program like Foobar or WinAmp. You can convert to wav with Flac Frontend.

Thanks for the recording! Great show, although I think I liked night 2 a little bit better (but maybe that’s because I got a handshake from the man himself…)

If you’re having trouble getting rid of that free ticket, I will gladly take it off your hands!

    Thanks again!

Thanks 10.000 times for sharing this, my friend. Poor me, I never had the chance to see Morrissey in concert. All the best from France, SergeSerge (as named on the Morrisey Solo Forum).

Very embarrassed to have to ask this but when I double click on the icon on my desktop after having downloaded, it says windows doesn’t have the programme to play this?

I am desperate to hear this as I am in Australia and who knows if morrissey will ever tour here again, do I load it into itunes?

As you can tell i am a novice…
    thks and regards

    Grant

No need to feel embarrassed! This question gets asked often. You will need a program to play the files, and we recommend either Foobar (what I use) or WinAmp. You can also convert the files to .wav files (that can be played using programs pre-installed in your computer, like Windows Media Player). Flac to wav conversion can be done with Flac Frontend.

    Your Bootleg is great.
I’m surprised that you can take donations for bootlegs.
It’s cool the bands let you sell them this way.

  22. October 25, 2007 at 5:48 am

I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic, but just in case, let me clear up some serious misconceptions.

First, this is not a “bootleg”. Its not for sale. Approximately 2000 people have downloaded it, and no one has paid a penny.

It is the goal of this site that some of the those people either purchase the official release as a result, or buy tickets to the remaining shows of this tour. Additionally, the users who have downloaded this recording have also been exposed through this site to the music of other artists also featured here.

In terms of donations, the total amount of donations received by this site in 6 months–$134. The total cost of this site has been somewhere between 12 and 14 thousand dollars. 5000 people downloaded the Springsteen recording, and one person donated 1 dollar (67 cents after paypal fees). The total advertising revenue of this site is zero–they’re all commission ads with an insufficient number of click through purchases to garner any revenue.

As the disclaimer on the bottom left of the main page reads, this site is intended to promote artists in a new paradigm of music exchange. Any monies received through donations and ads are used to offset the costs of running the site. Obviously, this has been a successful site in terms of generating traffic. Whether artist promotion has been successful is hard to tell. Its certainly been an extremely costly experiment, and one that is likely to end soon.

I had to come back and give you props one more time, nyctaper. This recording is OUTSTANDING! Really great! PRO.

I support and will continue to support Morrissey and other artists I consider viable sources of news and expression that doesn’t fit the corporate media/ Clearchannel mold. Thanks for giving the memory a voice.

Thanks so much for putting all the effort into recording and publishing concerts such as this.

I’m guilty of visiting, downloading, and then being silent. About time I made it known how much your efforts are appreciated.

    Thanks

Thank you for all the great shows. The quality is wonderful. I was wondering if the Friday show 10/26/07 was recorded and if so where can I find it? All of the other shows have surfaced but this one. Any help would be great.

  29. November 6, 2007 at 7:07 pm

    Hi Jeff,
I’m like the guy above, guilty of downloading so many of you great recordings, and don’t say anything here, so here I’m admting my guilt.
I wonder if I can join some of the recordings you made and offer them in some yahoogroups?
Tell me! Thanks for the great work you do to preserve the live music.

    Carlos from Portugal

Hi Carlos. Feel free to offer recordings from this site on a Yahoo group. The only 2 things I ask is that you provide credit for the recordings (usually just attach the txt file), and request that the people joining in the vines support the bands (by buying their official releases, seeing them in concert, and buying merch).
