Well, after a few exchanged and forwarded emails with some of the powers that be, and an extremely helpful Voice writer, it looks like nyctaper will be out at the Village Voice’s Siren Festival on Saturday in Coney Island to record the Stephen Malkmus set from the audience. We received confirmation from Matador that Malkmus will permit taping. Now we just need to find a spot in the crowd to get it done!

I recorded the entire Malk set from in front of the board and it sounds really good, despite my proximity to the Cyclone. The hyper-directional microphones filtered out a lot of the rumbling rollercoaster and its screaming riders.
It should be posted in the next day or two, I have to work out the hosting details with the extremely cool person who helped make this happen.
