We posted about the Steve Wynn set a couple of months ago. The former frontman for the Dream Syndicate will perform the complete The Days of Wine and Roses with his band Steve Wynn & the Miracle 3 at Maxwell’s. Steve has graciously permitted nyctaper to capture this historic concert in its best possible light and even invited us to the soundcheck.

Today we learned that we will be permitted to also record Freedy Johnston‘s set. Freedy will be performing his album Can You Fly in its entirety. We also recorded Freedy more than a decade ago at the Fleadh Festival and we’re going to dig into the archives and try to post that show before tomorrow.

I am kicking myself in the butt just a little softer for missing this show knowing that you’ll be there taping. Can You Fly was such an important record for me. And I dare say that the Miracle 3 will probably sound better doing TDOWAR than the album itself.

Steve & the M3 did a few TDOWAR shows a few years ago when the Rhino reissue was released. I think Steve himself would say that the Miracle 3 are a better band.

Just got back. It was a perfect night, and both performers were outstanding. Full matrix recordings coming very soon. For the encores, Steve joined Freedy’s band and they played two sicks covers — “Don’t Fear the Reaper” and “Outlaw Blues”.
