NYCTaper Upcoming Schedule — The Long Hot Summer

There are many new additions to the schedule, but it is becoming increasingly difficult for two people to cover the shows that really need to be recorded and featured on nyctaper. The simple reality is that we need more tapers. We are still trying to figure out how to make that happen.

[Below is the updated schedule. We expect to attend and record these events. However, circumstances will prevent some of these from being done, and others will be added in the meantime.]

If you want nyctaper to record your band, a band you represent, a show you’re promoting, or even your favorite band in the world, get me on the list and make sure everyone who needs to approve of the recording gives permission. Also, remember I’m doing this all for free — the recordings, the post-production, the reviews, the links, etc. — so treat me fairly.

I feel drunk with anticipation reading this list- I can’t wait to hear your recordings of School of Seven Bells, The National & the Antlers, the Melvins, Sonic Youth, Built to Spill, Liars, Fucked Up, Deerhunter & the Flaming Lips. God bless you good folks at NYCTaper for all the great work.

Cool. I’m thinking about getting to The Duo show on 8.27 as well. Glad to know you will be there if I cannot make it. It’s basically there only show in a 2 year span.

Really looking forward to School of Seven Bells.
Hope the recording went smoothly, and maybe a new track or two on the set.

    Regards

Sadly, we did not get permission for that recording, so no SVIIB.

As to Cocorosie, I don’t believe they allow taping.

Hey, not taping anything Aug. 28th? How about taping These United States again at Mercury Lounge? :)

Did you still manage to record the Antlers show on the 22nd after the generator blew?

    July 28, 2010 at 8:00 am

Sadly, we did not. Because tripods were not allowed, we were not able to bring in the type of equipment that would have been needed to deal with the high levels of wind at that site. And of course, the generator blowing didn’t help. We of course plan to amply cover Antlers and Dinosaur Feathers in the future, though!

    Did you catch Sonic Youth?

I see you’ve got Belle & Sebastian on your busy schedule. Will you also tape Teenage Fanclub who are playing that show too?

  13. August 3, 2010 at 6:07 pm

No, on Sonic Youth. Two tapers lined up for the show were not able to record for a variety of reasons. We’re bummed too.

    Not sure about Teenage Fanclub.

Also, for the people who have sent email about Dean Wareham at Bowery, I have sent email requesting permission to record that show and will record if the artist agrees.

A new list for August/Fall will be posted this week. Lots of interesting additions.

Wondering if either of the 2 New Model Army 30th anniversary shows were on your list for recording. I am considering flying out for these 2 nights at The Bellhouse in Brooklyn. Have you ever recorded there, tips?

  15. August 4, 2010 at 10:59 am

A longtime reader of the site is checking his connections with NMA to see if its ok that I record those shows. I did record them at Mercury last year, and got permission directly from Justin (via tour manager), so I’m hopeful.

What happened to The National tapings at Radio City and Prospect Park?

  23. August 16, 2010 at 2:53 am

We taped Terminal 5 instead for a variety of logistical reasons:
